Why is Total Cost of Ownership Important?

Everyone wants to make the best investment possible, whether it is in the stock market, a home purchase or buying equipment. A good equipment investment is measured by the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for that equipment. TCO includes not the just the purchase price but the maintenance cost over the life of the product.

In the current economic environment, I think it is a good time to explain how a Chemilizer injector is wise investment when it comes to TCO. You may be asking yourself, since there are cheaper injectors out there, why is it such a wise investment?

Well, did you realize that over 5 year period a Chemilizer can cost 30% less than even the “low cost” brand? When compared to higher price injectors the savings can reach 100%. The reasons for this lie in the design of our injector and a superior warranty.

All injectors are composed of two major elements, the motor and the injection assembly. Let’s examine the motor first.

2yrWhat is the most important factor in the motor warranty? Is it the length of the warranty? While the length is important, the question you need to ask is does the warranty cover normal wear on the motor when used in accordance with the instructions? Chemilizer’s motor warranty is the only one on the market that covers normal wear! Without exception, every other manufacturer limits their warranty to “defects in material or workmanship”. Some even require the water to be filtered for the warranty to be honored.

Why would Chemilizer be willing to cover normal wear when no one else will?  Well the answer is simple. Because of our unique diaphragm design, our motors last longer. Some injectors use a piston which can be damaged either by the chemical or by sand or other things in the water. Our diaphragm is almost immune to things in the water.  Still, even with our expanded coverage, our return on warranty rate is still less than 1/2 percent.

And with over 30 repair centers across the U.S. authorized to do warranty repair, taking advantage of that warranty is more convenient. No need to ship it back to the factory.

So basically, there is no maintenance cost on the motor for the first 2 years.

After two years, if there is a motor problem, we provide a motor rebuild kit that allows the motor to be rebuilt for a fraction of the replacement cost. You can do this yourself in about an hour or take advantage of our nationwide service centers.

Next the injection assembly, our positive displacement chemical pump is designed for easy and cost effective maintenance. The chemical assembly for any brand of injector is not covered under warranty by any manufacturer for the simple reason that many chemicals are so aggressive that they degrade any surface they touch. Our design limits the surfaces the chemical touches to our chemical pump. NO CHEMICALS ARE IN THE MOTOR (another reason we can offer a 2 year motor warranty). The pump itself is made of materials that will take many aggressive chemicals in stride, such as chlorine.

But even more than that, the parts that are affected by wear and chemicals are the pump stem and the check disc. On average people need to replace those every 12 to 18 months. We provide a small inexpensive kit. This maintenance requires no tools; can be performed without taking the injector out of service; and can be accomplished in less than two minutes.

The accuracy of any injectors over time is a factor of component wear. It is good practice to replace all the wear components, when necessary, to maintain the best accuracy possible. We have eliminated the piston as an accuracy issue, so just replacing the stem and the check disc will keep the accuracy on target.

Because of the design features above, we have customers who have had the same unit in service for over 10 years. While we can’t promise that will be the case for everyone, I hope you now understand how Chemilizer has worked to provide you with lowest Total Cost of Ownership possible.
